It is not uncommon for many users to use weak passwords simply because they're less difficult to remember or to use scripts, templates and plugins that are not updated for a long period of time. In either of these cases, it won't be difficult for a hacker to take over the site and following that to take control of other sites which are hosted in the very same account. In order to prevent this kind of a scenario, we have added an advanced security option named JailHost. It limits the access which a script has only to its own folder, so in case one of your websites is compromised, the attacker will see its content, but will not be able to see any other content in your account, which means that the damage will be minimal. Needless to say, employing JailHost doesn't replace the safety measures you should always take by keeping your scripts up-to-date and using long and complex passwords, but it will allow you to restrict the damage to one site only.

JailHost in Hosting

If you host your sites in a hosting account from our firm, you can protect them using the JailHost feature with just a couple of mouse clicks in your Hepsia Control Panel. This feature is available with all plans and can be enabled for every folder as the domains and subdomains in Hepsia have separate folders, so files for different websites never get mixed up like it regularly happens with other Control Panels. We haven't activated JailHost by default because you may use scripts which require access to folders outside the main website folder and this option may interfere with their proper functioning, but protecting all other folders is very easy. If any secured website gets hacked for whatever reason, we will be able to recover it without delay since we'll have multiple daily backup copies of your entire account and you will even be able to search the available backups from Hepsia.

JailHost in Semi-dedicated Servers

JailHost comes with all our semi-dedicated server packages and you could activate it with several clicks. It is not activated by default since we do not want to prevent some scripts that may need to access multiple folders in your account from working properly. You can enable JailHost for all other sites that you have from the Hepsia Control Panel and you can do this easily even if you lack previous experience. What enables us to offer JailHost is the way Hepsia takes care of multiple domains - they all have individual folders that can be "locked". In contrast, other widespread Control Panels feature add-on domains and their content is kept in the primary domain folder, so in case a single site is hacked, the entire account is hacked, that isn't the case with Hepsia. In case a site is damaged regardless of your efforts, we shall be able to recover it the way it was in no time because we'll have a few daily backup copies of your entire account.
