Sender Policy Framework, or SPF, is a verification system, that is used to prevent the so-called e-mail spoofing where an e-mail message is sent from one e-mail, but to seem as being sent from a different, often with the idea to fraud the recipient in some way. If SPF protection is enabled for a domain, a special record is made for it in the Domain Name System and all DNS servers around the world receive it. The record features all of the email servers that are permitted to send legitimate messages from an email address under the domain. When a message is sent, the very first DNS server it encounters verifies the SPF record and if the sending server is permitted, the message is sent to the target destination. If, however, the sending server doesn't exist in the SPF record for the given domain, the e-mail message will not be forwarded and it'll be discarded. Whenever you use this solution, it will prevent third parties from sending spam messages which appear to have been sent from you.

SPF Protection in Hosting

If you host your domains in a hosting account with us and we manage the e-mails for them, you will be able to enable SPF protection for all of them with a few clicks inside your Hepsia Control Panel. The service is available in a separate section where you'll be able to view which domain names are currently protected. For the ones that are not, you will be able to enable the SPF protection solution and manage a lot of things during this process - the hostnames of the mail servers that are allowed to send messages from your email addresses, the IPv4 and IPv6 addresses of the servers, as well as to set a rule that messages can be sent only if your domain names use our MX records. The last option is the most secure one, but you can use it if we handle the e-mail addresses for your domain names and you're not using a different email supplier. The newly generated records will be activated within 24 hours and nobody will be able to forge the FROM field in an email using your addresses.

SPF Protection in Semi-dedicated Servers

If you have a semi-dedicated server account from our company, you will be able to protect your email addresses by activating the SPF protection service for any domain hosted in your account with just a couple of mouse-clicks. You can do this through the Emails section of our Hepsia Control Panel that is included with the semi-dedicated accounts and even when you have no previous practical experience with these issues, you will not have any kind of trouble to enable the protection. Everything that you will have to do will be to pick a domain from a drop-down list and after that type the mail server hostname and IPv4 or IPv6 address. When the new record propagates, messages from your email addresses will be delivered globally only if they were sent from that specific server. If your emails are managed by us and not by a third-party provider, you'll also be able to benefit from an option for email messages to be mailed only when the domain name features our MX records and this is the most secure option. Should you have any kind of questions about thisfunction, you will be able to contact our tech support crew 24/7.
